Road to recovery.

August 2007: Angus Fire has announced that it will be sponsoring the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund (FSNBF) National Car Wash on 15 September 2007 (22 September in Wales).

Largest Fundraising Activity

The National Car Wash is the FSNBF's largest fundraising activity, and involves fire stations throughout the UK washing the nation's cars, in exchange for a donation to the FSNBF. The event also gives fire fighters the unique opportunity to interact with a large cross-section of the community, and promote important Community Safety Fire initiatives.

Vital Source of Income

The funds raised will go towards helping injured and traumatised fire fighters requiring therapy treatments. The event provides a vital soure of income for the Charity, with the last two events raising nearly £300,000 between them. The FSNBF now assists over 11,000 beneficiaries every year at a cost of £9 million, which means that fundraising initiatives such as the National Car Wash have never been more important.

Long Tradition

"We have a long tradition of supplying fire fighting equipment to the Fire Service," says Matthew Bonney, Marketing Manager at Angus Fire, "and so we have the utmost respect for the way fire fighters carry out their vital and difficult work. We wholeheartedly support the work of the FSNBF and are proud to give our backing to this year's National Car Wash.

Incredible Group of People

FSNBF Chief Executive, Roy Lawrenson, commented: "Fire fighters are an incredible group of people, who are there for us in our most desperate times. However, accidents will happen and injury, or worse, is around the next corner. We are here to rehabilitate these injured fire fighters and support the families of fallen fire fighters, and the public can show their support to these heroes by coming to the National Car Wash. And afterwards drive away in a clean car."
